Last summer Puglia was once again one of the Italian regions preferred by celebrities to spend their holidays. This is a trend that has been going on for many years now and which sees the Heel of Italy invaded by illustrious people who find in this extraordinary region the perfect place for summer relaxation.
Yes, because it is hard for anyone to resist the charm of Puglia. You can, for example, ask Madonna, who was literally struck by the energy that releases Puglia; or a completely different celebrity, the French President Emmanuel Macron, who chose the land of olive trees to rest from the stress of the Elysée. So, let’s find out all the VIP who came on holiday to Puglia last year, or at least all those who have been spotted.
Among the last super VIP spotted in Puglia there is Naomi Campbel, who arrived in Bari last July. There is still a mystery about her arrival in Puglia. More recent the sighting of Bono Vox, leader of U2, seen aboard his private yacht, near the port of Gallipoli, with his wife and a group of friends. The rock star, immediately recognized by his fans, has literally thrown social media between hashtags and selfies.
Madonna also crossed Salento’s seas aboard her luxury boat. The queen of pop, in fact, would have been seen near Otranto, while the Hollywood actor Richard Gere would have toured the Valle d’Itria for unknown work reasons.
The tennis champion Maria Sharapova also fell in love with Puglia, during a wedding in Borgo Egnazia. And then again Meryl Streep and Gérard Depardieu who decided to put down roots in Salento: the first bought a villa in Tricase and the second a house in the heart of Lecce.
Finally, last summer also saw the arrivals of Tom Hanks and Emmanuel Macron. The French president came to Puglia for the first time, but his destination remained top secret.
