- Holidays in Puglia
Every Apulian city has its weekly street market where you can buy local delicacies such as vegetables and fruit, olives, cheeses and cold cuts. In addition to the weekly local market, some towns also host an antique market, usually monthly. These markets are the best places to shop because you can find great items at very cheap prices. Almost all of them offer a collection of objects ranging from worthless junk to priceless works of art, from ancient objects to more modern ones. A real paradise for those who love having fun bargain the price.
Here is our list of the best antique markets in Puglia.
Ostuni Antique Market. It is held every 2nd Sunday of the month in Via Martiri di Kindu. It is great for beautiful old linen cloths & dresses, glassware and ceramics, and Apulian bric-a-brac.
Martina Franca Antique Market. It is held every 3rd Sunday of the month in Piazza Vittoria Veneto. It is the most opulent of all antique markets in the region with furniture and objects of fine workmanship.
Taranto Flea Market. It is held every Sunday on Rione Salinella: among other items, you can find collectibles and antiques.
Lecce flea market. It is held every last Saturday of the month in Piazza Libertini. Here you can buy beautiful wood, cane and wicker products handmade by local artisans.
Bari flea market. It is held every third weekend of the month in front of the Basilica di San Nicola. It is a good place to find plenty of good handicrafts, souvenirs and antiques.
